I figured I’d jump on to post an update for you guys instead of completely vanishing.
First of all thank you for all of the kind comments
I greatly appreciate every single one of them. Though I haven’t been able to respond individually to all of them I promise I will, and the fact that you guys took the time means a lot.
Secondly I can give you a few more details now instead of just throwing that up there.
My husband and I weren’t home when it happened. He was at work and I was babysitting my newborn niece. When I got home in the afternoon I thought it was odd that my oldest dog was out of our bedroom (he stays in there and sleeps on the bed) and it was strange that my youngest dog was barking in her kennel which she rarely does now. When I went into our bedroom I saw that all of my vanity drawers had been strewn across the room and there were only a few random jewelry pieces scattered across the floor. I realized that we had been robbed.
The good news.
The puppy, dog, cat, and ourselves are physically unharmed. They were on foot because they didn’t take some of the bigger ticket items we have. Our landlord is amazing and came and installed a large metal door frame (because that’s how they got in, just kicked at the deadbolt until the door frame broke) and also put in 2 additional locks, one that literally goes into the tile and foundation of the house.
I have an incredible group of friends who have been supportive throughout this entire process, even long distance, and I literally can’t tell you how touched I am by their support
. (Mr. Squiddles!)
Our families have been there for us as well and offered to do whatever they can to help.
And lastly, we have renter’s insurance as well as small valuables insurance. So hopefully we’ll be able to get reimbursed for some of what we lost.
The bad news.
We are not emotionally unharmed. Our dogs are shaken as well and have been on edge since then. They are normally very friendly towards new people and absolutely best friends with those they already know. When my dad, one of their favorite people, came over they both barked and growled and backed away from him any time he left the room and came back in.
I hate that they’ve taken the security we felt at home from us.
They took many pieces of jewelry that had serious sentimental attachment.
And while my laptop was password protected, so I know they don’t have access to anything, all of my art is gone. All of the pictures I took, including those of pets who passed away, they’re gone too. Any stories I had written, any sketches I had done, my inventory list for a mini side project that took me hours to complete, any papers I had written that I wanted to keep, everything is f*ing gone.
What does this mean for Shadow online?
Well, my husband is absolutely amazing and surprised me yesterday morning by letting me know he’s ordered a computer for me online out of his savings. He’s fairly confident the insurance company (USAA) will be good to us and reimburse us, but still
. It’s due to arrive next week so I’ll be able to at least get on and take care of kaaring checks for
Nordanner as well as the three lists that I manage. I hope everyone will be patient with me until then.
As far as my art goes….. The edition of PS that I had was a gift from someone a while back who purchased the ability to use it for their company and rather sneakily gave it to me when I "worked" for them so I could use it in school. As absolutely amazing as that was, it also means I don't have the disk and thanks to PS and their idiotic way to take more money from people I'll have to start budgeting for the cloud.
On top of that!
I suffer from general anxiety disorder and depression. I’m on medication to help with both of those things but right now the thought that I have to start from scratch on so many things is causing me to have panic attacks. This means I have to work past these before I can start on anything. So I hope that you guys can be even more patient on things I may owe/need to get done/want to get done.
I'm not opposed to those who want to ask questions and I'll do my best when I can get on my phone or on another computer (like now) to reply.
Thank you again
.
